The most important part of the process will be a series of public dialogue meetings designed to make you a vital part of this visioning project. The first series, which kicks off in November, will be designed primarily to generate ideas through a number of open meetings held throughout the county. Those meetings will be followed by a "Stakeholder's Workshop" that will develop shared goals for the future and strategies to turn those goals into reality. The Stakeholders Workshop will include an invited group of 150 or more people representing all the various perspectives and positions in the County along with the general public. Committees built around topics defined in the meeting, perhaps including subjects like the environment, criminal justice, farm economy, governance, etc. will be formed from meeting attendees Those committees, through the Spring of 2006, will take the goals and strategies and formulate action plans addressing their topical area. The project will climax with a "Community Choices Workshop" to review and endorse the vision and action plan. This last of the series of gatherings will function as one big open house, allowing you to review the progress of our joint efforts, identify priority goals and become involved with implementation in your local community. big. small. all does not end here. The outcome is not a plan and will not have the force of law. The value of the process will be realized to the extent that the community accepts and commits to it. While the results of the dialogue process will be recorded in a document, the document is not the end product. The ultimate purpose is to move present and new community leaders and energized constituencies forward to realize the vision by implementing the action plan. Action is the true end product.
